Aspen Mesh is looking for a passionate senior software engineer to work alongside an extraordinarily talented team of software developers. This role is full-time remote unless you happen to reside in the Boulder, Colorado, area and would prefer to work in our downtown Boulder office.

Aspen Mesh is an internal incubation within F5, which means we get to move with the focus and agility of a startup, while benefiting from the expertise, stability, and heritage of a company that knows how to meet the needs of large, complex enterprises.

Our engineers are experts in modern cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Istio, and Envoy, and we actively contribute to and participate in those open source communities. We’re lean, autonomous, and growing, and we work in highly collaborative, close-knit teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop deep expertise in Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, and networking.
  • Fix defects, implement new features, and release new versions of an on-premises software product targeting large-scale telecommunications service providers.
  • Write code in Go and C++.
  • Review code to ensure standards of quality and maintainability are met.
  • Contribute to the Istio and Envoy open source projects.
  • Provide occasional on-call support with bonus compensation.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor of science in computer science or 8+ years of equivalent, hands-on technology experience
  • Strong understanding of technical architecture and development process for distributed systems
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
  • Ability to learn and adapt well to new tools, languages, and challenges
  • Passion for software development and working effectively with others
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, Go, or C++ is a plus
