Our team is passionate about bringing a new product to the Kubernetes container and microservices market, built on the open source project Istio. Our Director of Engineering will help scale our growing team to delight our customers with our enterprise service mesh and analytics platform.

As our Director of Engineering, your skills and energy will help build and guide a robust technical team that is passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience through the newest technology and engineering methodologies. You will have the opportunity to shape the organization and work closely with all areas of the business to provide both near and long-term value. Working with Data Scientists, UX and UI Designers and our Product Team, you will lead collaborative efforts to help guide the roadmap and give our users the insights and control they need in their microservices environment.

What you will do:
Develop trusting and collaborative relationships with your team members that highly motivates them, provides clear direction, and leads to exceptional performance Partner with Product, Sales, Customer Success, Architecture and Data Science teams to ensure your team has clear tactical and strategic backlogs Lead, evolve and optimize our agile software processes and engineering best practices Develop a partnership with senior technical contributors to influence and help implement the technical vision Evaluate and ensure the technical effectiveness of the platform in areas of scalability, maintainability, delivery cost and operability Balance competing priorities to ensure delivery of new features while resolving defects and handling technical debt Recruit, develop and motivate a high performing team of engineers.

What you will bring:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or other technical field 15+ years of experience in technical development 5+ year experience and a consistent track record of leading technical teams.
  • Experience as an engineering manager who has mentored and grown engineering teams Early-stage startup experience with an entrepreneurial approach to solving problems.
  • Experience delivering scalable products in fast-paced, dynamic environments A history of developing engineering processes and best practices that are right sized for the team and product maturity
  • Motivation to build a collaborative, inclusive and empowered team An understanding of open source software, open engineering practices and open core business models.
  • A technical background with experience in software development using languages like Go, Python, Node.js, C/C++ Ideally, experience in SaaS, containers, microservices and related technologies Ability and willingness to travel to attend customer meetings, trade shows, conferences or other activities.
