Aspen Mesh is looking for a passionate Data Scientist who wants an opportunity to work with a high-performing team in an early-stage environment. Our team is bringing a new product to the Kubernetes and microservices market built on the open-source project Istio and OpenTelemetry. The Data Scientist will work with our cross-functional team of data scientists and engineers to provide meaningful application insights enabling customers to make more strategic decisions to speed innovation and enhance the user experience of their applications.

As a Data Scientist, you will work with our Product team to build the user experience of Aspen Mesh. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and your data science and engineering peers to deliver robust models that expand and improve our analytics features. Our core offering provides our customers with deep insight into their applications to optimize performance and deliver the experiences their customers expect.

Expect to champion data-centric modeling techniques and robust model development. In our organization, your colleagues will recognize your contributions, trust your skills, and support your growth. We choose speed and agility. We help each other thrive, and we will empower you to excel.

This position is located in Boulder, CO, with the option to work remotely full time.

What you will do:

  • Work with architects to design resilient and scalable suites of microservices.
  • Design and develop models that leverage large amounts of data to recommend management strategies related to the communication of customer’s microservices.
  • Develop, test and clearly document statistical and machine learning models.
  • Maintain quality throughout software development through peer code review, unit, functional and model testing.
  • Develop on-premise and SaaS software models for deployment, depending on market requirements.

What you will bring:

  • Masters from an accredited college or university with 3+ years of experience working as a data scientist.
  • Curiosity about the workings and behavior or microservices applications deployments and ability to solve systemic problems with microservices infrastructure.
  • Enthusiasm for early-stage product development and comfort with short, agile development cycles. This includes a willingness to do what it takes to be successful, which may require activities outside of pure model development (such as testing, documentation, talking to customers to provide support, etc.).
  • Ability to learn and adapt well to new frameworks, languages, and challenges.
  • Aptitude for model development, model evaluation, rapid model iteration, and comfort giving and receiving feedback from code reviews.
  • Experience making informed trade-offs that balance quick wins with robust long-term solutions.
  • Experience with a version control system like git, and CI/CD systems like CircleCI.
  • Prefer experience with multiple languages like Python and related tools, including cloud platform tools (AWS or GCP).
  • Prefer experience working with a cross-functional/full stack team.
